Research Projects
1. Discovering Business Object Pattern (BOP) using Integrating Ontologies Library: Tourism and Travel Business Object Pattern Domain (006- 2007) This research proposal introduces Tourism and Travel Business Object Pattern (BOP) architecture based on available ontologies library and online ontologies. Ontology Libraries are storage areas for ontologies. There is no one ontology language, therefore ontology libraries are usually restricted to plain text files or some XML storage format, mostly plain files. Software components are created from multiple ontologies using strongly typed mappings of classes between differences of ontologies description. This approach provides a great level of interoperability and allows partial integration of information when completeness is impossible.
2. Transforming Ontologies to the Unified Modeling Language (UML) Object Model using Protégé (2007 - 2009) In recent years, ontologies have been implemented in many business and knowledge base communities as a way to share, reuse and develop domain knowledge. Ontologies are now essential to many applications such as scientific knowledge portals, information management and integration systems, electronic commerce, and semantic web services.
This research proposal introduces the use of the ontologies description from ontologies library. The purpose of the research is to convert ontologies to object diagram using Protégé. Protégé is the free ontologies editor, open-source platform that provides a growing user community with tools to create domain models and knowledge-based applications with ontologies. Protégé is a national resource for biomedical ontologies and knowledge bases supported by the National Library of Medicine, however; Protégé also provide variety of ontologies besides biomedical. The Protégé-OWL editor enables users to build ontologies for the Semantic Web, in particular in the W3C's Web Ontology Language (OWL). An OWL ontology may include descriptions of classes, properties and their instances. Given such an ontology, the OWL formal semantics specifies how to derive its logical consequences, i.e. facts not literally present in the ontology, but entailed by the semantics.
The research will be emphasizing on transforming ontologies to Unified Model Language (UML) object diagram which is the principle of object oriented software engineering. In the field of software engineering, the Unified Modeling Language (UML) is a non-proprietary specification language for object modeling. UML is a general-purpose modeling language that includes a standardized graphical notation used to create an abstract model of a system, referred to as a UML model. It is important to distinguish between the UML model and the set of diagrams of a system. A diagram is a partial graphical representation of a system's model. The model also contains “semantic backplane" documentation such as written use cases that drive the model elements and diagrams.
3. Integrating User Requirements into System Design Case Study: The Public Online Interactive Map of Metro Politan Rapid Transit Authority and Bangkok Mass Transit (BTS) Skytrain System (2009 - 2010)
The research is aim to create the online public prototype system of Metro Politan Rapid Transit (MRT) Authority (Figure1) and Bangkok Mass Transit (BTS) Skytrain System interactive map. The system will shows the whole picture of both MRT and BTS train stations which are located in the interactive manner. The design will be a proposal for the whole MRT and BTS Skytrain in Bangkok.

4. The Approach of End User Web Developing: A Case Study of Personal Web Site for Generating and Distributing Online Questionnaires/Surveys as a Research tool.
End-user is very important to require the system efficiently; however, most of the time they are not the one who create the system. The best thing they can do is give the system requirements and the system workflow to the developers. The ownership is more significant to include system acceptation by letting end-users design the system themselves. This aim of the research is to support the end-user web developing in software engineering discipline by using the real case scenario. The main task is to develop end-user personal website. The final result is that the end-user is able to create surveys/questionnaires online. This research is the walk through and discussion approaches of how to utilize end-user persona. Evaluating exist tools by developers is also the essential step to generate the website according to end user skills and requirements. The research highlights the important issue of end-user involvement in the development processes. The end-user collaboration on the system is also shown in the report. The conclusion and discussion of further research is addressed in the last part of the report.
5. Developing the Operation and Workflow Tracking System of Research Department, UTCC with Prototyping Model
The prototyping is the efficient method from many methodologies of software engineering approaches. The traditional waterfall model is suitable for the well understanding requirement and large project. The pilot project of research tracking system had never been established before in University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC). The staffs in the research department manually manage the research tracking system of researchers funding by UTCC which are approximately 20-30 projects a year. The prototyping methodology was chosen to apply to this work. The paper describes how the prototyping was created according to the theory compare to the real case scenario situation. The pros and cons of prototyping techniques are addressed in the paper. The recommendations and the observations from the practices were also taken into the consideration in this work.
6. Survey on Ontologies Utilization for geographic information system (GIS) Facilitation
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) have become widely used for capturing, storing, integrating, analyzing and displaying various types of geospatial data. They have been applied to several fields such as transportation, education, business, tourism, urban planning, etc. Nowadays, with the advancement of GIS technological tools in capturing and storing geographic data, it leads to the challenge in managing data from diverse sources and storing in different formats at different levels of detail. In another word, two or more applications sharing data that represent the same thing may cause different types of heterogeneity problems. To enable GIS interoperability and data management, ontologies which are considered as powerful tools for information sharing, information processing and information integration are utilized in this context. This paper discusses how ontologies can be employed to resolve heterogeneities in order to enhance interoperability and support geospatial data sharing and reuse as well as facilitate decision making in GIS domain.
7. Social Networking Ontology Engineering: Practical Approach for Non-Expert User Learning
Many researches had been focused on social network services such as Facebook and Twitter. This social network definitely changes the way of how human communication and will ultimately change business methods as well. There are many researchers who are working on social network, it also used in various fields including management and applied science. The challenges of studies on the semantic association in the network are is worth because associations between entities/concepts/objects are essential. The principle of association within social network can assist to triumph over the limitation of information exchange in association network through sharing the person profile data. And this can be facilitated the marketing point of view in business issue. So the social network domain of interest has been selected in this research.
